In light of the recent ban on girls’ education by the Taliban, we’re taking action to provide essential resources and opportunities for Afghan girls. Through innovative programs, including English language teaching, computer literacy, and scholarships, we’re empowering girls to overcome barriers and pursue their dreams. Join us in making a difference and standing in solidarity with Afghan girls on their journey to empowerment and education.

The Victorian Afghan Youth Association (VAYA) proudly hosted its Nawruz celebration, bringing together the Afghan community and people from across Victoria to celebrate the Afghan New Year and the richness of Afghan culture.
The event was a vibrant celebration of culture, community, renewal and hope, featuring traditional Afghan music and dance, cultural performances, Afghan cuisine, traditional clothing and activities that showcased Afghanistan’s diverse cultural heritage.

Our project tackles the challenges Afghan youth face in Hume, including isolation due to language barriers and limited cultural integration. We aim to bridge cultural gaps through exchange and celebration, while also empowering Afghan youth with leadership skills through mentorship and training. By involving them in community activities, we encourage active participation and pride in their contributions. Additionally, we focus on building lasting support networks with local organisations to ensure Afghan youth continue to thrive in the community.

Our devoted volunteers are dedicated to assisting Afghan refugees and asylum seekers who find themselves alone in Victoria, offering vital assistance in securing suitable accommodation. We prioritize providing the necessary emotional, cultural, and linguistic support to connect with and uplift members of the Afghan community during their journey.

The Youth Sports Program at the Victorian Afghan Youth Association (VAYA) is committed to building a vibrant community sports hub. Our aim is to promote physical and mental well-being through sport and physical activities, fostering resilience and a strong sense of belonging within our community.

Dari Language School every Saturday during the school term for a unique opportunity to learn the Dari language and connect with the vibrant Afghan community. Our program goes beyond language acquisition, fostering a social environment where students can build friendships and engage with the rich cultural tapestry of the Afghan community.
