Nawruz Celberation

The Victorian Afghan Youth Association (VAYA) proudly hosted its Nawruz celebration, bringing together the Afghan community and people from across Victoria to celebrate the Afghan New Year and the richness of Afghan culture.

The event was a vibrant celebration of culture, community, renewal and hope, featuring traditional Afghan music and dance, cultural performances, Afghan cuisine, traditional clothing and activities that showcased Afghanistan’s diverse cultural heritage.

A key highlight of the celebration was that the event was designed, organised and delivered by young people from VAYA. Through their leadership and involvement, young Afghan-Australians had the opportunity to showcase their talents, strengthen their connection to their cultural heritage and contribute positively to the wider community.

The celebration also provided an opportunity for people from different cultural backgrounds to come together, learn about Afghan traditions and build stronger community connections. Guests enjoyed Afghan food, performances and cultural experiences while celebrating the values of inclusion, diversity and multiculturalism.

For VAYA, Nawruz was more than a cultural celebration. It was an opportunity to empower young people, strengthen community connections, preserve cultural traditions and share the Afghan community’s contribution to Victoria’s multicultural society.

VAYA thanks all the volunteers, performers, community members, supporters and guests who contributed to making the Nawruz celebration a memorable and successful event.

Together, we celebrated our culture, our community and the hope of a new beginning.
